An effectively proofed wheated single barrel bourbon that tastes older than it is.

Rebel (formerly Rebel Yell) is part of Lux Row’s family of brands out of Bardstown, Kentucky. Lux Row Distillers distills product for the Rebel line using the company’s wheated mashbill. However, because Lux Row Distillery began distilling in 2018 when the distillery opened, older releases such as this 10 year single barrel were distilled under the company’s contract with Heaven Hill. Rebel 10 Year Single Barrel is an annual limited release. This year’s is comprised of 2,600 6-bottle cases, totaling 15,600 bottles.

Rebel 10 Year Single Barrel has been a consistently high quality bourbon, which we discussed in our past review of it. The 2025 edition is right on point, delivering a traditional Kentucky bourbon flavor profile that leans into dark fruits, leather, and oak. As a result, it has a beautiful brightness to it, delivered by its fruit elements, but also a savory undertone, driven by leather, aged oak, and slight oak tannins in the midpoint. The whiskey is also proofed quite effectively for the flavor profile, which is equally rich and easy to sip.

The bourbon in review is from a company-provided sample that does not specify the barrel number for this single barrel. Because this is a single barrel product, the exact flavor profile and age (all are 10 years or greater) will vary from barrel to barrel. Retail bottles will include the specific barrel number and “aged since” date.

The sample used for this review was provided to us at no cost courtesy its respective company. We thank them for allowing us to review it with no strings attached.
