Lochs of Jura Barrel Finish is a blend of straight bourbons and rye finished for 32 months in single malt Scotch whiskey barrels, sourced from a combination of 84% ex-bourbon and 16% ex-Sherry barrels. Jura is a remote Scottish island that sits off Scotland’s west coast in the Inner Hebrides, immediately northeast of Islay. It’s home to one major Scotch whisky distillery, the aptly named Jura Distillery, which was founded in 1810, temporarily closed in 1901, and then reopened in 1963. Released alongside 2026 Discovery, both releases feature artwork by Louisville artist Margaret Archambault inspired by the whiskey itself.
Often, Scotch-finished bourbons and American whiskeys pick up heavy Scotch notes, which can be off-putting for bourbon fans who don’t necessarily care for Scotch’s range, which can often be peat- or malt-forward.
