The first Frey Ranch rye to be featured in a Lost Lantern Collection features a bold, spice-filled sip that will appeal to rye lovers.

Lost Lantern’s Summer 2025 Collection “celebrates the rise of estate distilleries.” These types of distilleries grow all of their own grain either onsite or within a short distance to their distilling facilities. This helps give rise to the “grain to glass” movement within the whiskey industry and, like wine, seeks to highlight terroir, or a "sense of place" that the whiskey embodies.

Frey Ranch Distillery is featured prominently in Lost Lantern’s Summer 2025 Collection and features single barrel bourbon, rye, and wheat whiskeys as well as serving as a component in both the bourbon and rye small batch blends. Frey Ranch is located in northern Nevada, on a 5th-generation, 165 year old, 1,500-acre family farm, and the distillery is celebrating its 10th year of distilling. The company has an ongoing standard bottled in bond rye as well as a cask strength rye that both utilize the 100% winter rye featured in Single Cask #8.

The first Frey Ranch rye ever seen in a Lost Lantern Collection, Cask #8 is a rye lover's rye. It’s full of big flavors up front with spice notes throughout. It opens on a slurry of various sweet and grounded notes that flow into bold spice and rye notes at the midpoint. The mint and overall boldness drop off at the end, producing a pleasing finish that lingers thanks to its chewy spice. There’s no denying that rye spice is the focal point here, and fans of high proof, spice-forward ryes will be pleased with what Cask #8 delivers.

Lost Lantern Frey Ranch Estate-Grown Nevada Straight Rye is a 230 bottle release.
