High Bank delivers a solid double oaked whiskey that will satisfy any level of whiskey drinker.
High Bank Distillery Co. is located in Grandview Heights, Ohio, and was co-founded by Adam Hines, who also serves as one of the company’s master distillers. Established in 2017, the company distills their own bourbon. However, the whiskey used in this Whiskey War Double Oaked bottle is sourced and blended by the High Bank Distillery Co.
On the nose, seasoned oak, pie crust, and caramel give way to vanilla custard on the backend. Graham cracker, savory leather, and dried apricot are accented by allspice on the bright palate, which transitions to a mix of black pepper and allspice at the start of the finish. Aged oak and caramel linger to finish off the sip.
High Bank Distillery Co. is making waves with a strong presence in their hometown thanks to a growing number of releases. Double Oaked is centered and enjoyable, but somewhat nontraditional as it builds off a set of flavors that veers outside the typical “bourbon” norm. After all, it is a double oaked whiskey, and there is little readily available information about the components used in the blend, including how close its mashbill is to bourbon.
The bottle in review comes from batch 14.
