Soldier Valley Lee Greenwood Signature Bourbon is a light, approachable Indiana-produced bourbon that may appeal more to casual drinkers than experienced bourbon enthusiasts.
Soldier Valley Spirits launched in 2013 under Army veteran Jeff Hadden, centering the company on his military roots and a focus on giving back to service members. The brand features a WWII canteen-style bottle with an embossed “six” on its cap, referencing the classic military phrase for having a comrade's back. The distillery teamed up with country artist Lee Greenwood to introduce the Lee Greenwood Signature line, which also includes whiskey and vodka releases alongside their bourbon. After Patriarch Distillers shut down in 2024, Greenwood brought the brand back to market in 2026, leading into the nation's Semiquincentennial celebration.
A mashbill of 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley that is most likely from MGP Distillery brings forward a familiar flavor profile. The overall aroma and sip are light, with an equally light mouthfeel. Gentle scents of honey, caramel, and cantaloupe open the sip in a welcoming way. The palate is similarly inoffensive, with soft notes of toffee, apricot, and dried banana chips. The finish adds a touch more complexity thanks to notes of milk chocolate and dehydrated fruit.
If you’ve been drinking bourbon for some time, you’ll know what to expect from a younger Lawrenceburg, Indiana bourbon. Though it lacks ample complexity, the flavors are noticeably crisp and approachable. And while its price is high for its age and straightforward flavor profile, a percentage of proceeds benefit veterans, first responders, and their families, so you know the extra money is going to a great cause. Experienced bourbon drinkers can look elsewhere, but if you’re looking for an easy and smooth sipper, Soldier Valley Lee Greenwood Signature Bourbon fits that bill.
