The first-ever Tennessee whiskey release from Sugarlands Distilling Company, Roaming Man Special Edition Tennessee Whiskey Cask Strength is full-flavored with a unique flavor profile.

Sugarlands Distilling Company first laid down barrels for their Roaming Man line in 2015 and released their first Roaming Man Rye batch in 2017. Fast forward several years and the company released its first Tennessee Whiskey under the Roaming Man brand in September 2024.

This is the first, and so far only, Tennessee whiskey release from Roaming Man. The whiskey is a blend of two mashbils with one containing wheat and the other containing rye, and entered the barrel at 109.8 proof. The release is small, and consists of only thirteen 25-gallon barrels with a total bottle count of approximately 1,200.

Sugarlands Distilling Roaming Man Special Edition Tennessee Whiskey Cask Strength starts with corn syrup, brown sugar, and caramel on the nose. A dense grain element transitions to brown sugar, caramel, and black pepper on the palate. Seasoned oak kicks on the backend before transitioning to baking spices, caramel, and cigar box in the long finish.

Overall, this is an interesting whiskey and notable release from Sugarlands Distilling Company. It’s rich and full of flavor, and sells for only $35. With only 1,200 bottles available, if you happen to come across one and like a full-flavored Tennessee whiskey, it is worth picking up.

The bottle in review is from batch S7.
