With an appeal to bourbon drinkers who prefer lower proof options, Pursuit Spirits introduces a sub-90 proof bourbon.
Pursuit United Bourbon is produced by Pursuit Spirits, whose two co-founders got their start in the world of American whiskey as part of the podcast team at Bourbon Pursuit. The brand has stuck with the same three sources for their bourbon as they continue to hone their blending skills. Of particular note is that while the source of the Tennessee whiskey is not revealed, they specifically point out that it is not from Tullahoma, home of Cascade Hollow Distilling Co. and the George Dickel brand. This release also embodies a new look, as the company states it is a “comprehensive packaging refresh featuring a distinctive custom bottle and updated labels across the entire Pursuit United line, designed to enhance shelf presence and clarify product identity.”
Pursuit United Triple Mash Bourbon is aimed at a broader segment of the market thanks to its lower proof and consumer-friendly price point. The sip provided will certainly appeal to those looking for a lower-proof bourbon that is light in nature. It begins with a light nose that delivers a pleasing aroma, but one that makes you work to pull out its scents. The midpoint is thin, delivering a more classic flavor profile, which transitions to a short but balanced finish. Not every bourbon needs to be high proof, but the brand’s combination of sourced bourbon tend to deliver a more impactful sip at a higher proof.
The bottle in review comes from Batch 4CF.
