A pseudo-limited whiskey from Green River Distillery, U.S. Army 250th Anniversary Bourbon is a solid release that’s worth seeking out for bourbon fans with a connection to the bottle’s purpose.
U.S. Army 250th Anniversary Bourbon was released to “Commemorate the U.S. Army's 250th anniversary with a limited release whiskey marking the milestone.” It launched on June 14, 2025, and will be available through 2025 and into 2026. The bourbon’s proof of 111.1 is a nod to Veterans Day, November 11. According to the company, “A portion of proceeds will directly enhance quality of life for soldiers and their families, including wellbeing, sports, fitness, libraries, entertainment and recreation” with charities including “The Special Operations Warrior Foundation, the Special Operations Fund, USA Cares and the Bardstown-Nelson County Veterans Memorial.”
It’s not uncommon for brands to introduce a sort of commemorative or celebratory release; however, in many cases, the liquid inside the bottle is no different than the standard product. Green River Distilling Co. changed up the formula for this commemorative bottling by using a different mashbill than their standard product, along with blending to create a different flavor profile. The result is a consumer-friendly bourbon that’s built on a traditional bourbon flavor profile with hints of unique flavors. The most notable of these is the mix of seared mint, anise, and orange zest on the nose, black cherry on the palate, and orange jam on the finish. These flavors add a subtle yet notable dimension to the bourbon, which is a very easy-drinking, crowd-pleasing experience.
