Fireside Bottled in Bond Wheated Bourbon consistently delivers a flavorful and expressive sip, all at an accessible proof and price.
Mile High Spirits is based in Denver, Colorado, and distills all of its whiskey onsite. Many of their whiskeys feature unique mashbills, and their style of whiskey-making has resulted in a distinct-tasting product. The company’s bottled in bond wheated bourbon is one of their core products, and they also release a limited-edition single-barrel version, which hit 5 years old in 2023 and continues to climb. Their Bottled in Bond version of their wheated bourbon achieves the government’s minimum age of 4 years.
Having tasted their wheated bourbon year-over-year, I can attest to its consistency. The aroma continues to offer scents of chocolate, raspberry, prune, brown sugar, and pomegranate molasses. The palate is steeped in molasses, an array of stone fruits, and cinnamon spice. The finish offers a pop of apple and sweet oak, before turning to pecan pie, mixed berry jam, and light clove. It’s a flavor journey that continues to serve this bourbon well.
The Bottled in Bond version of Mile High Spirits Wheated Bourbon is inherently an easier sipper than the higher-age, higher-proof version. Though it lacks the same immediate impact as that release, it’s the bourbon’s flavors that are doing the talking here. They’re quite expressive, given the bourbon’s proof. Combined with a reasonable price point, Fireside Bottled in Bond Wheated Bourbon continues to work very well.
