Medicinal Whiskey is a pending 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has a mission of fighting childhood illness with the power and passion of whiskey enthusiasts. The organization is composed of approximately 120 doctors who raise funds from the barrels they pick to help sponsor the organization's two core charities: Duke Children’s Hospital and UNC Health Children’s Hospital. The goal is for the organization to benefit a different children’s hospital each quarter.

The last of Medicinal Whiskey Charity’s 2021 single barrel selections - the coveted Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Single Barrel - is a good representation of the bourbon. Gripping intensity with highlights of aged oak, leather, and caramel sweetness, the particular selection offers a (welcome) above average intensity for Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. It epitomizes the concept of a single barrel, taking the attributes of the brand and offering a nice spin on it. Kudos to Heaven Hill for (finally) allowing single barrel selections of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, and kudos to Medicinal Whiskey Charity for picking a  tasty barrel.
