Copperworks Special Release: Single Cask No. 440 offers a unique and flavorful American single malt experience with notes of baked bread, biscuits, and even saltine crackers.
Copperworks Distilling Co. is a distillery located in downtown Seattle, Washington, and has been operating since 2013. Copperworks focuses on single malt whiskey, and variables across releases include the variety of barley, aging time, and characteristics of barrels used for aging.
Cooperworks’ standard releases are made with 100% malted barley. Copperworks Special Release: Single Cask No. 440 is made with 100% Genie Pale Malt, which many find to be a more flavorful malt to distill and brew with. Single Cask No. 440 does offer a more flavorful pour compared to the company’s standard Farmsmith release, and you’ll instantly notice it. Some of it has to do with the bottle’s higher proof point, but overall, flavors skew more robust and come with additional heft. Though nowhere near the intensity of a typical bourbon or rye for the same proof, the unique flavors of baked bread, biscuits, and saltine crackers (if you can believe it) help further make it stand out. For fans of American single malts, Single Cask No. 440 further shows the unique flavors American single malts can bring to a sip.
The whiskey in review is bottle number 1 of 200.
