Barrell Bourbon Batch 037 is a reminder of how blending is an art, and the team at Barrell Craft Spirits are artists.
Barrell Craft Spirits was founded over 10 years ago by Joe Beatrice. After a few years in business, Master Distiller Tripp Stimson joined Barrell Craft Spirits and plays a critical role in the company, as the duo batches and blends all of their releases with a high level of attention to detail.
Releasing their bourbon in batches, the company has slowed down over the years. Just a few years ago, multiple batches would be released in a given year. In 2021, the brand released five batches, culminating with Batch 031, before scaling back its annual release schedule. In 2024, the brand slowed down to just one release with Batch 036, and all signs point to Batch 037 being the sole batch release in 2025.
Barrell Batch 037, like most Barrell batches in years past, exemplifies just how well the company is at blending whiskeys from various distilleries located in different states together. The sip comes across as well-integrated, starting with a nose that is sweet and intriguing, followed by a midpoint that carries over the sweetness but showcases its rye component nicely, all while delivering a creamy mouthfeel at the same time. The finish is the weakest part of the sip, providing a nice but less memorable ending compared to the really enjoyable nose and palate. Overall, this is another great blend by Barrell Craft Spirits that is easy to appreciate and worth its higher (and consistent) asking price.
