This is our second pick with Grain & Vine which is located in Brooklyn, NY. This is also our second Kings County Distillery pick in the last 7 months and there’s a good reason for it. Our Single Barrel Club #26 “I Love NY Bourbon” was a personal favorite of ours and sold out quickly. Kings County has really been grabbing our attention lately and putting out some very high quality and unique tasting bourbon.

Just a short time ago we got together and tasted four barrels from Kings County Distillery. They were in the 4-5 year age range which is a little older than the first round we tasted last year. We were apprehensive about finding another gem like the first go-around, but were surprised to find every barrel in the group was easily as good as our first pick.

We enjoyed every barrel, but found two we really enjoyed - and each was different!

We pegged one as sweeter with more balance than our first pick, but similar. A little extra aging time might have rounded it out a bit, but just a bit. The barrel maintains the unique flavor profile we enjoyed so much from our first pick.

In contrast, we found one of the barrels from a different distillation to be super complex. At a mouth-scorching 134 proof, it offers the same gripping intensity found in a high proof George T. Stagg. While it certainly isn’t for the faint of heart, if you have a hankering for a bold bourbon that gives you a “New York hug,” this is it.

Rather than choosing just one, we put it to a vote - which of the two do we take, or do we take both? Our Patreon members voted, and decided...two barrels it is! We are nicknaming these "Might" and "Valor" and highlighting the iconic Brooklyn Bridge not too far from the distillery where they were made.

Because of the small yield for each barrel, SBC #43 includes two different single barrels. When ordering, be sure to specify which barrel you are purchasing, as noted on Grain & Vine’s product page.
