Sagamore Spirit is a five-acre waterfront distillery located in the Baltimore Peninsula neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland. The company was founded in 2013 by Kevin Plank, executive chairman of the sports brand Under Armour. In September 2023, Illba Saronno Holding S.p.A., an Italian company known for the Italian liquor, Disaronno, purchased a majority stake in Sagamore Spirit. The oldest release by Sagamore to date, VP of Operations Ryan Norwood states that "the launch of our 10-Year-Old Rye is a defining moment for Sagamore Spirit. This release reflects not only our deep commitment to the legacy of Maryland rye, but also the high standards our fans expect.” Notably, this rye is not actually distilled by Sagamore and instead is sourced from Indiana.

The whiskey contains a pleasing variety of flavors that tend to focus on sweet and spice notes. It starts with an aroma that contains a combination of scents that just work incredibly well together. The palate blends in delicate rose tea and white peppercorn with more bold notes of rye spice, cinnamon stick and charred oak. Ending with a forward facing dose of rye spice, the finish pulls in a sweet vanilla pudding note for added intrigue.

Double-digit aged Indiana rye is most likely the result of sourced whiskey from Ross & Squibb Distillery (MGP). Indiana rye tends to hit its sweet spot around 10 years old, and this is certainly the case for Sagamore 10 Year Rye. This is a great rye that is full of flavor that will please rye lovers with its delicious sip.
