Frey Ranch Harvester Series: 10th Anniversary American Whiskey is a complex, fruit-forward celebration of the distillery's 10 years, showcasing the company’s diverse range of flavors and grains.

Frey Ranch Distillery is an estate distillery located in northern Nevada. On this 165 year old, 1,500-acre family farm, they grow all of their grains, malt their barley, and the whiskey is both produced and aged on their grounds. Celebrating 10 years of distilling, the company’s latest limited release highlights its core trait: estate-grown grain. Frey Ranch Harvester Series: 10th Anniversary American Whiskey features all five of the company’s grains: non-GMO dent corn, winter wheat, winter rye, barley, and oat. Taking it a step further, the distillery’s blenders tasted 100 barrels and 14 different mashbills to create the complex final blend.

Frey Ranch whiskeys are often grain-forward, and that is by design. The company is proud of the grain they grow onsite and proundly showcases it in their products. But one immediate thing you’ll notice about Frey Ranch Harvester Series: 10th Anniversary American Whiskey is that there are so many flavors coming at you at once, the grain-forward flavor profile takes a backseat this time out.

The whiskey is a diverse and hits you with a wild range of flavors. Hard butterscotch hits first on the nose, but adds rhubarb, cranberry, and dates, against seasoned oak. The palate layers in fruit cake and all of its flavors with wild black raspberry, and brandy (along with all of its assorted flavors), against more seasoned oak. Finally, the whiskey finishes with notes of charred oak, sun-dried tomato, prune, fig, and dark chocolate. The proof also adds a bit of punchiness that only helps to accentuate its flavors.

Though Frey Ranch has been distilling for 10 years, they waited 4-5 years before releasing their first whiskey to the public. During this time, we’ve tasted their whiskey as it’s matured and tasted a range of experimental releases. Frey Ranch Harvester Series: 10th Anniversary is their best release yet, showcasing all their work coming together to create a whiskey that highlights their accomplishments.
