Chattanooga Whiskey Co.’s latest bottled in bond bourbon threads the line between classic bourbon notes and a supporting cast of flavors that elevates it to the next level.
Chattanooga Whiskey Co. has been consistently producing interesting bourbon, and their bottled in bond series is no exception. Producing fall and spring releases annually, the series provides a window into the ongoing evolution of the company’s distilling capabilities over the years. This latest release is no exception, as the Spring 2020 blend contains three versions of their acclaimed wheated recipe (B005, B005v2, B005v3) – which contain multiple varieties of malted wheat and malted barley never before used in this mash bill. For this blend, the company states that the whiskey is made in four batches of 10 barrels each.
A string of classic bourbon scents, including caramel, cinnamon, brown sugar, and oak, intertwine with yellow cake, vanilla frosting, and various forms of cherry to instantly bring intrigue to the sip. The richness displayed in the nose carries over to the midpoint, as baking spices and cinnamon burst forth and are supported by sweet brown sugar and a honey roll note. The flavor train continues as the bourbon ends on notes of spice, various baking flavors, and more traditional notes. It’s the best bottled in bond bourbon the company has put out to date and is a reminder that Chattanooga Whiskey Co. is a force to be reckoned with in the American whiskey space.
