Blue Note Single Barrel Rye is a classic tasting, fruit-forward rye that offers a flavorful sip and great price point, making it a notable option for rye enthusiasts.
Blue Note Bourbon is located in Memphis, Tennessee, and draws inspiration from the city’s rich musical history for its branding. Known for their Blue Note Juke Joint Bourbon, multi-finished releases, including noteworthy honey finished bourbon and rye, the company is seeking to expand their rye portfolio with the release of Blue Note Single Barrel Rye. While the company press release states that the rye used was aged a minimum of four years, the bottle in review carries a 3 year age statement.
Starting with an excellent price point of $50, Blue Note Single Barrel Rye is a classic tasting rye at its core. What it lacks in uniqueness, it doubles down on what makes a rye whiskey great. It’s a rich-tasting and smelling rye through and through that is anchored by its fruit notes. Though rye spice and mint are found in its sip, it’s the rye’s fruit notes that stand out the most. Even though it only spent a few years aging in a barrel, this rye sips considerably older than it is. Based on its elevated sip and great value pricing, rye lovers should take note of Blue Note Single Barrel Rye.
The rye in review is from barrel number 20677.
