According to the company, “BCS Gold Label Bourbon is a blend of 16 and 17-year-old straight bourbons. Barrels for this release were selected from four different collections: cherry bomb barrels with a rich mouthfeel, nutty oak forward barrels, high proof and high complexity barrels, and barrels with pronounced milk chocolate notes. The last group underwent a secondary maturation in toasted virgin American oak casks before being added to this intricate and seductive blend.” This is a new line for Barrell Craft Spirits, and similar to their Gray Label bourbons, Gold Label comes in a prominent box that differentiates it from the company's standard whiskey offerings. Gold Label also represents the first time that Barrell Craft Spirits has priced a whiskey this high, joining the recent trend of $500 bourbons in the marketplace

The bourbon offers an intriguing sip, delivering rich notes throughout. It opens with rich baking spices that lure you in with the midpoint of the sip being the standout, consisting of a palate full of rich earthy flavors that mingle with sweeter notes. This transitions to a pleasing finish that balances spice with sweet and grounded flavors. Barrell Bourbon Gold continues to showcase the company’s blending prowess and their ability to take higher aged bourbon and blend them elegantly.

The pour will certainly please all who get a chance to try, that is assuming they splurge on the hefty $500 price tag. This price will certainly cause some debate, however, there is no debate when it comes to the fact that Barrell's Gold Label is a great bourbon.
