The sixth release in the Little Book series, “To the Finish” is a crowd-pleaser offering an enjoyable savory-sweet-spicy flavor profile.

Little Book is an ongoing annual fall release curated by Freddie Noe, eighth generation Beam family member and son of current Beam master distiller, Fred Noe. Like previous years, Chapter 6 is a blend of component whiskeys that’s intended to be completely unique relative to past releases.

Combining a range of different whiskeys, the flavors are introduced rather softly at first, and then concentrate heavily on the backend of the palate and into the finish. While there are four different finished malt whiskeys and one bourbon in the blend, a combination that could result in competing flavors, everything comes together nicely and somehow compliment each other. There are some unique flavors in the mix as well, with maple bacon, smoke, and a hint of Apple Jolly Rancher towards the later part of the finish. It’s impossible to know if this is a result of the mingling of the component whiskeys, or if each offers a rather forward prominent flavor that’s simply finely tuned in the blend. Regardless, it’s a unique combination of flavors that accurately reflects Beam’s goal with the limited edition Little Book series: to produce something uniquely different with each release.
