KIRBY, Wyo. (June 4, 2025) –– Wyoming’s first legal distillery, Wyoming Whiskey, is proud to announce the launch of Buffalo Bill Cody, a Wyoming-exclusive limited-edition bourbon that honors Buffalo Bill’s legacy.
A larger-than-life figure, Buffalo Bill Cody was a fearless frontiersman, a decorated war hero, and a master showman whose charisma captivated audiences around the world. From his early days as a Pony Express rider and Union soldier to earning the Medal of Honor and founding the town of Cody, Wyoming, his life was a true epic of the American West. At the height of his fame, Buffalo Bill was one of the most recognized Americans on the planet, bringing the spirit of the frontier to global stages through his iconic Wild West show. As sharpshooter Annie Oakley once said, “He was the simplest of men, as comfortable with cowboys as he was with kings.”
Made from grains farmed in Wyoming soil, distilled in Kirby, and created with a blend of 26 barrels from the Wyoming Whiskey rickhouses, Buffalo Bill Cody is more than a bourbon; it is a tribute to the Wild West.
With the release of this 6-year-old bourbon, Buffalo Bill Cody, the distillery pays tribute to its home state with a Wyoming-exclusive product, unveiled in honor of the anniversary of Wyoming Whiskey’s first production on July 4, 2009. Each year, the Wyoming-exclusive releases are a celebration of the rich history of the Cowboy State, spotlighting the people, places, and stories that have shaped it over centuries.
According to Brendan Cook, Wyoming Whiskey’s master blender, “When creating Buffalo Bill Cody, we wanted a product that stood out from the rest of our portfolio and other Wyoming Only releases but stayed true to the Wyoming Whiskey pillars of flavor: caramel, orange, vanilla, dark dried fruits, and spice. We wanted to lean into the Buffalo Bill name and create a liquid that we believe Bill would have enjoyed himself as he made his way across the American West. It features notes of leather and tobacco, with the comforting sweetness we expect from Wyoming Whiskey.”
