Press Release

Hye, Texas (September 15, 2026) – Garrison Brothers Distillery, the first and oldest legal whiskey distillery in Texas and the first distillery outside Kentucky to produce authentic, handcrafted, corn-to-cork bourbon whiskey, will host a special Tailgate event celebrating the release of its PX and Oloroso Finished Cask Strength Single Barrels. The distillery will welcome guests for a game-day bourbon release event featuring watch screens for the Texas Longhorns vs. Florida Gators game, with kickoff planned for approximately 11A CT.

In June 2026, Garrison Brothers introduced the Ranch Reserve Series with two inaugural eight-year bourbons: Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in PX Sherry Casks and Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Oloroso Sherry Casks. For the Tailgate, the distillery will release PX Finished Cask Strength Single Barrel and Oloroso Finished Cask Strength Single Barrel, drawn from the same original production lot. After four years in new American oak and another four years in first-fill PX or Oloroso sherry casks, Master Distiller Donnis Todd decided to hold back 27 standout barrels—14 PX barrels ranging from 122.0 to 135.2 proof and 13 Oloroso barrels ranging from 124.6 to 136.7 proof—because of their bold, distinctive character. Approximately 3,000 bottles of each expression were produced, 984 bottles of each to be available at the October event, and the remaining bottles allocated to select retail partners nationwide. Each bottle will identify its specific barrel number and proof. The bourbon is bottled uncut, unfiltered, and non-chill filtered.

“Every now and then, a few barrels tell you they’re not meant to be blended away,”
said Donnis Todd, Master Distiller, Garrison Brothers. “These PX and Oloroso ‘troublemakers’ had the depth, structure, and cask-strength character we look for in a true standout, so we bottled them exactly as they came out of the barrel.”

Donnis Todd and the distillery team look forward to welcoming guests to the special release event. Throughout the day, the Tailgate will feature food and beverage specials including Frito Pie, chili cheese hot dogs, and brisket nachos, along with cornhole, yard Jenga, and live music. The family- and dog-friendly event is open to all. The Whiskey Shack and Gift Shop will be open all day.

The single barrels will be sold separately for $189.99 per bottle.

Garrison Brothers Distillery is located at 1827 Hye-Albert Road, Hye Texas 78635.

The gates will open on October 17 at 8A. To book a tour and learn more about this distillery event and all available experiences, go to https://www.garrisonbros.com/our-distillery/
