Chattanooga Whiskey
Chattanooga, TN (February, 2026) – Chattanooga Whiskey has announced the newest release in its award-winning Experimental Single Batch Series: Batch 047: Single Pot Still.
Modeled after Ireland’s most distinctive (and specific) whiskey style, Batch 047 was distilled from a traditional Irish-styled mash bill including floor-malted barley, raw barley, and malted oats – then pot distilled to achieve the style’s hallmark silky creaminess and lively, peppery spice character.
“As a spirit style, Single Pot Still whiskey has developed a loyal, passionate following. So when we decided to make our own version, we knew it had to check all the stylistic boxes: unmalted barley for signature texture and flavor, oats for grain complexity, and pot distillation for that classic spirit quality.” - Grant McCracken, Founding Distiller
Although the distilling team set out to make an authentic Single Pot Still-style whiskey, they also wanted it to feel unmistakably “Chatt Whiskey.” That meant “coloring” each step – from mashing to distillation to aging – with a unique mix of traditional and innovative decisions.
For the mash, the team selected a few standout grains: a world-renowned floor-malted barley from one of the oldest malthouses in the UK, an unmalted (raw) barley variety from Tennessee called Calypso, and a “naked” malted oat from Asheville’s Riverbend Malthouse – cleverly nicknamed Streaker Oats. Together, the grains capture the unmistakable silky texture and spice-forward character of the style.
For distillation, the team turned to their 100-gallon Experimental copper pot still, opting for a fuller-flavored double distillation, rather than the triple distillation process used by many Irish distilleries. By stopping at two runs, more of the grain, malt, and fermentation character is carried through into the final spirit.
Finally, for aging, the team again drew inspiration from both Irish and American techniques. While most Irish single pot still whiskeys typically build their depth from ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, Batch 047 is matured in a blend of new charred oak casks – long seasoned and custom toasted – for extra depth and dimension. The result keeps the tradition’s signature character while adding a distinctly American sweetness and depth.
“As distillers, we always want to respect the history of a whiskey style, but we also don’t want it to lack personality. It’s a tightrope walk, really – between reverence and creativity. That said, I really think we nailed the landing.” - Grant McCracken, Founding Distiller
Bottled at 95 proof, Batch 047: Single Pot Still will be available at the Chattanooga Whiskey Experimental Distillery starting February 5th, 2026, for $59.99 (750ml). It will also be available online for shipping to select states via Seelbachs.com. Expect notes of toasted granola, baked pear, gingersnap cookie, and vanilla icing, with a long, creamy finish.
About Chattanooga Whiskey:
Founded in 2011, Chattanooga Whiskey helped change Tennessee law – winning the right to distill whiskey in Chattanooga for the first time in 100 years. That victory led to the creation of the Chattanooga Whiskey Experimental Distillery – the only standalone experimental distillery in the country. Since opening in 2015, the distillery has released dozens of innovative single-batch whiskeys and spirits that, once gone, are never fully recreated. Produced in batches of 20 barrels or less, these ultra-limited releases have become craft whiskey’s benchmark for innovation and stylistic creativity.
In 2017, the Chattanooga Whiskey Riverfront Distillery opened as the production home of the company’s signature recipes: Chattanooga Whiskey 91, Cask 111, and 99 Rye – along with the Bottled in Bond Vintage Series, Barrel Finishing Series, and Founder’s Anniversary Blend.
Independently owned and operated, Chattanooga Whiskey is committed to making whiskey that emphasizes quality, innovation, and authenticity through its one-of-a-kind Tennessee High Malt style – a commitment recognized in 2023 when Chattanooga Whiskey was named Craft Producer of the Year (America and Global) by Whisky Magazine’s Icons of Whisky. Today, the Experimental Distillery continues to push the boundaries of craft whiskey, introducing more than 50,000 visitors annually to Chattanooga Whiskey’s now iconic story.
