Chattanooga Whiskey
Chattanooga, TN (May, 2026) – Chattanooga Whiskey today announced its latest Bottled in Bond Vintage: Spring 2022. Made from a blend of only two mash bills, this seasonal vintage is one of the team’s most simply constructed offerings to date – made possible by the addition of a new, complex five-grain recipe to the series: SB112.
Developed in early 2017, this recipe was originally released as an Experimental Single Barrel in mid-2021, before it was selected and scaled to their larger Riverfront Distillery in Spring 2022. Four years later, the mash bill now gets a larger spotlight.
“Every new mash bill we create goes through four years of testing at our Experimental Distillery before we even consider scaling it to our Riverfront Distillery for Bottled in Bond. After that, the recipe is tweaked slightly, and starts over on the larger system. True to style, every Bottled in Bond release is four years old, but every mash bill has gone through eight years of development before it ends up in a vintage blend.” - Grant McCracken, Founding Distiller
The new mash bill, SB112, specifically contains three types of dark caramel malt: “cara aroma malt,” “caramel bohemian malt,” and “extra special caramel malt.” These caramel malts are roasted at higher temperatures like chocolate or coffee – adding layers of dark caramel richness to the blend while preserving the elegant malt of their signature “Barrel 91” recipe.
Made in accordance with the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897, every component of the Spring 2022 Vintage was distilled and barreled between January 2022 to June 2022 at the company’s Riverfront Distillery. As usual, this blend was crafted through a collaborative, multi-month tasting process conducted by the entire distilling team – refining each version through multiple rounds of blind tastings.
“Mash bills and collaborative blending have always been our team’s super power. For most distilleries, Bottled in Bond is pretty much their flagship recipe brought to four years and 100 proof, but our BIB is very different. Spring vintages are meant to taste more like spring, fall vintages taste more like fall, and every single vintage blend is made to say something new.” - Grant McCracken, Founding Distiller
After five years and 10 vintages, Chattanooga Whiskey’s Bottled-in-Bond Series has become a favorite among whiskey lovers for its unique combination of renewed character, affordability, and availability. This season’s vintage marks the milestone with a new blue closure – a packaging detail more commonly found in vintage wine, but chosen to highlight the seasonal, limited nature of the series.

About Chattanooga Whiskey:
Founded in 2011, Chattanooga Whiskey fought to change Tennessee law – winning the right to distill whiskey in Chattanooga for the first time in over a century. That bold beginning laid the foundation for everything that followed, including the creation of the Chattanooga Whiskey Experimental Distillery and the invention of their distinctive Tennessee High Malt style. To scale their most successful Experimental recipes, the company later opened their Riverfront Distillery, which transformed small-batch innovation into nationally recognized core expressions.
Since then, Chattanooga Whiskey has grown into one of the most innovative craft distilleries in the country and was just named Craft Producer of the Year for 2026 by Whisky Magazine's Icons of Whisky. Today, the Experimental Distillery continues to push the boundaries of craft whiskey, introducing more than 50,000 visitors annually to Chattanooga Whiskey’s now iconic story.
